Welcome
The Institute for Vision Research (IVR) was created to allow the University of Iowa to take a world-leading role in the eradication of human blindness through interdisciplinary research, education and clinical care.
The eradication of blindness is a major scientific goal on par with the pursuit of cures for cancer, heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease and AIDS. Common blinding diseases like age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma affect millions of people world wide.
